ATS GE Zenith’s ZTS-MV series combines the advanced technologies and more than 75-year experience of General Electric Company in constructing the systems of transfer to backup power source. This series is designed for operation within the range of 5 to 15 kV voltage and 600 to 3000 А current (depending on the supply option).

Principle of the switching device operation

The operation condition is determined by situation when the voltage disappears on the main entry or drops below the set threshold values (factory default - 80 % of the rated voltage) at disabled phase control. The backup generator is started-up in preset time delay (factory default - Р1 = 3 seconds.) When the voltage on the redundant entry achieves 90 % of the rated value and the mains frequency - 95 % of the rated value, the main entry contact group is opened and the redundant entry contact group is switched to redundant entry in preset time delay (W). After completing all these operations the load will be connected to the backup power supply source.

Measuring device continuously monitors the main entry parameters, and immediately after recovery of power supply to this entry (the threshold operation parameters are adjustable, factory default - 90 %) the measuring device rechecks the voltage level, and if the parameters are within the threshold values the measuring device outputs the command for starting the procedure of switching to main entry.

In the preset time delay (factory default - Т = 30 minutes), the redundant entry contact group is opened and the main entry contact group is closed. Then the load is switched to the main power source while the generator transfers to cooling mode (factory default - 5 minutes) and is switched-off.

ATS ZTS-MV series includes two models:

1.    ZTS-MVB model with the following characteristics:
  • built-in vacuum circuit-breaker;
  • electrically interlocked for secure operation;
  • protection against the current RMS value increase;
  • extending journal from the rack back part to facilitate replacement of the main power source fuses;
  • control module is completely isolated from the power circuit;
  • possibility of the MX200 control module use in the event when the generator is used as the alternative power source;
  • supporting the work with the remote signaling systems and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System) using the modem connections.

2.    ZTS-MVD model with the following characteristics:

  • roll-out vacuum circuit-breaker
  • dual electrical interlocks;
  • extending journal from the rack back part to facilitate replacement of the main and redundant power source fuses without interrupting its operation;
  • control module is completely isolated from the power circuit;
  • possibility of the MX200 control module use in the event when the generator is used as the alternative power source.
