Static load switchers GE Digital EnergySTS are developed to load two independent electric power supply sources.

On the contrary to traditional ALT, a static switcher provides quick switch (as a rule, not less than 1/4 of a unit period) that provides continuous work of sensible electronic equipment. Switch of the load to a priority takes place almost instantaneously (as a rule, during 0.1 ms).

Main application of STS is developing automation systems for power generation sector, electric power supply systems in petrochemical and oil refinery industry, computer and telecommunication centres, automated and safety systems of "Smart Buildings" as well as other equipment sensible to power failures. High overload capability and switching algorithms provide selectivity of protection systems at short circuits in the load. As a consequence, voltage is immediately fed to other consumers. Integrated protection against impulse noise of thyristor keys provides additional protection of consumers.

The static switcher consists of double-headed thyristor keys for every phase shift as well as control and safety systems. 4-pole models have also a neutral switch. If priority input fails, STS checks the state of backup input and transfers the load to it when the parameters are within the tolerance.

Switching may be caused by interferences or switching-off of priority input, input overloads, manual or remote alteration of input priority.

If two inputs are synchronized (difference in phase less than critical meaning) and have valid parameters, manual or remote switching is accomplished less than during 0.2 ms. The time of switching caused with failure of priority input is defined with the state of the priority input. If the inputs are synchronized the switching is performed with a delay not exceeding 6 ms at permissible phase difference. Absence of synchronization causes an additional delay before switching, a delay duration is set by the user.

During the whole service life all equipment produced by GE is comprehensively supported by assistance department rendering services on prevention maintenance or efficient repair twenty four hours a day.
