JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is the national freight and passenger carrier. The company's mission is to meet the needs for safe and high-quality rail transportation, ensure the efficient operation and development of railway transport, and create conditions for improving the industry's competitiveness.
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia began its commercial operations on December 1, 2015. The company is the successor to all rights and obligations of the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine, as well as its subordinate enterprises and institutions that had the status of separate legal entities.
The company currently accounts for 82% of freight and nearly 50% of passenger transport carried out by all modes of transport. By freight volume, the Ukrainian railway ranks fourth on the Eurasian continent, behind only the railways of China and India.
